www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tragedy Dan's main argument is that you have a choice but you don't. What he means by this us that you have a choice but your choices can be hard to choose because they could all be something that you want but you can only pick one. When you pick one of the choices once it is done you will wish that you picked the other choice and that is a never ending cycle. So pretty much everyone has a choice in life but but it will be difficult to pick just one choice. If you only had one choice it would make things easier but you never only have one choice you always have at least two to three choices. Even though this video didn't mention anything about tragedy it could be portrayed as tragedy. How, you may ask? well if you think about it when you have more than one choice it would suck if you pick the wrong one, but at the time the one that you picked sounded like the right one. If you do pick the wrong choice it could end up being bad, it could happen to sound right at the time but after a while you might happen to be wrong and that could possibly be a tragedy to someone. This video confirmed my thoughts on tragedy because I thought that a tragedy could be any kind of tragedy, it could be anywhere from someone dying to someone having a bad day. And this video was saying that tragedy could be picking a wrong choice. Everyone has a different kind of thought on tragedy and mine just happened to be that it could mean anything and this video confirmed it.

Miller's argument is how terror and the fear that is classically associated with tragedy. So what it's saying is that tragedy is fear or terror and tragedy is not a good thing at all, no one wants any kind of tragedy in their life. As I read through this article I came to the conclusion that this article is about tragedy. In line 29 it says Tragedy, then, is the consequence of a man's total compulsion to evaluate himself justly." When I read this part of the article I thought it was saying that it could be fair what he chooses. This article doesn't change my understanding of tragedy because I personally think that tragedy is something bad that happens to someone, and when I read the article it confirmed that tragedy is something bad that happens to someone. Tragedy to me is like someone dying or someone getting bad news or even someone doing something that is horrible such as kill someone, kill themselves or even just do something that they will regret. This article really just talks about how tragedy is bad, seems how tragedy is so bad who would ever want that to happen to them? No one deserves any kind of tragedy in their life but that is part pf life, tragedy happens in everyone's life whether it's big or small. www.etymonline.com/word/tragedy Botton's main arguments about success and failure is that some people try and some people don't.. For example when I was watching his youtube video he says "where those who deserve to to get to the bottom also get to the bottom and stay there, in other words ,your position in life comes to seem not accidental, but merited and deserved. And that maked failure seem much more crushing. So what he is saying is that you can choose to have success or failure. He talks about how people take what happens to them very personally, they either own their failure or they own their success. "everyone deserves to get where they get to." When I heard Botton say this I thought it was a good thing to hear. If you want to be successful in life you can be but if you don't want to be successful in life then you won't be, you get to choose on whether you want to be successful or not. "We are the first to be living in a society where we worship nothing but ourselves." This is saying that in the past years everyone who has lived has had to worship someone or something, and we now don't have to worship anything or anyone. Botton says " the funny thing about success is that we think that we know what it means." This is saying that we all think that we know what success is but we all have a different meaning of success, for example I could thing that success means having a goal and achieving it and success for someone else could mean that you are successful in life, like you have gotten to the point in life where you want to be. www.ted.com/talks/alain_de_botton_a_kinder_gentler_philosophy_of_success#t-743642 What is tragedy, someone might ask. To me tragedy is when something bad happens. Tragedy is when someone dies or anything that makes you cry. Everyone has different perspectives one tragedy my perspective just happens to be that tragedy is a bad thing that you don't want to happen to you nor anyone else. In my head if something tragic happens to me i'm going to cry because its something that I don't ever want to happen. I think the most tragic thing that can happen is someone or something dying. I do have some questions about tragedy. One question that I have is what does the word "tragedy" mean to everyone else? I know what tragedy means to me but I don't know what it means to everyone else, it would be nice to know what everyone else thinks about the word "tragedy." Another question I happen to have is , is there other kinds of tragedy? Does tragedy have different meanings? Tragedy really means human suffering. Tragedy describes different phenomena every time. Tragedy of commons is another tragedy and it means and economic theory that is a shared- resource system where people act independently to their own self-interest. Another type of tragedy is revenge tragedy. Revenge tragedy is when the protagonist of a story is seeking the revenge of an imagined or actual injury. There are many different types of tragedies and some people may or may not have their own form of tragedy. I know that when I read what tragedy and the different forms of tragedy were I didn't expect them to mean what they meant. I thought tragedy just meant when something bad happens in your life. I didn't realize that there was so many different types of tragedy. Tragedy is something that I thought no one would ever want to happen in there life but it seems like tragedy happens more than what we think if we know all the different types of tragedy. |
